A BACUP man arrested as part of a major drugs swoop by the newly formed National Crime Squad has been released on police bail.
Operation Feral has centred on drug smuggling on the Southern Spanish coast around Malaga and led to the arrest of five men and one woman in Spain earlier this week.
Spanish police recovered cannabis resin worth £1 million at Torreveiga. The six people arrested are still detained.
The UK operation saw four men arrested at their homes in Lancashire yesterday - in Bacup, Leyland, Appley Bridge and Ormskirk. A further two men were arrested in Teeside and Dumfries and Galloway.
All six were arrested in connection with conspiracy to import controlled drugs and money laundering and are bailed to return to York police station.
The arrests are a result of a year-long inquiry by the National Crime Squad.
The squad was launched by Home Secretary Jack Straw to replace the regional crime squads with a remit to investigate serious and organised crime.
