THE creative team behind successful fireplace manufacturers Petra Hellas has two design awards to put on their mantlepiece after wowing judges in a national competition.
Petra Hellas, based in Stacksteads, scooped the awards at the 1998 Hearth and Home Exhibition.
Home experts judged Petra Hellas' Nova Scotia insert, which uses Celtic etching, first in the best interior category, while their Cameo design, a hole-in-the-wall fireplace with a daisy chain design inlaid with brass and granite, was placed second in the fireplace suite class.
Managing director Tracy Strudwick was delighted with the result. She said: "This endorses our view that the industry and the public are ready for something new and exciting. At this show we were judged against some 90 companies, many of whom are established national names.
"However, we aren't complacent, we're already thinking about next year's show!"
