A COMMUNITY crime prevention initiative has been handed a £5,000 boost by British Aerospace bosses.
The School Community Action Team scheme, launched six years ago by Lancashire Constabulary, encourages students to stamp out crime in their neighbourhoods.
The cash will be used to fund the county's 50 SCAT teams and marks a return for the firm who first sponsored the project in 1994.
Lancashire's chief constable Pauline Clare said: "We are extremely proud of our SCAT teams and of the excellent crime prevention they do in our local communities.
"But their success depends on the generosity of companies like British Aerospace and their sponsorship means the scheme can go from strength to strength."
Jeff Mountain, BAe's military aircraft manager, who is also a Lancashire Partnership against crime director, added: "Our sponsorship reflects our confidence in these students and re-enforces our efforts to work closely with people living near our sites, like Samlesbury."
