MRS Gladys Robinson's "No place for gays in forces" (Letters, June 12) reminds me of the time when there was a place for them in the forces.
I refer to the Second World War, when millions of men where conscripted.
There was no time to question their sexual habits. But perhaps different rules apply when the world is in peril. What is certain is that many gay men died in action and their names are on monuments across the country.
Mrs Robinson asks what would happen to gays in the forces.
In my war, they were treated the same - and died the same.
