HEAVY drinking, thoughts of suicide, marital problems and depressions were the startling symptoms showing doctors' morale had hit rock bottom. A national poll revealed two-thirds of GPs wanted to pack in the job because of too much pressure in the new internal market NHS. David Noblett, secretary of the Local Medical Committee, which included 10 East Lancashire GPs, said: "Doctors are finding the changes totally unacceptable."
