BUSINESS is booming at an Accrington trade centre, claim Hyndburn council bosses
Seventeen units have been let to businesses at The Globe Centre near the town centre, with travel, finance, marketing and information technology firms moving in.
And council chiefs have revealed work on a second building, providing office space and more business units, is well under way.
A report to the borough's economic development board states little space remains in the centre's original building and calls the venture "an outstanding success". Coun Bernard Dawson said: "Business is booming at The Globe Centre and we are building further phases of development to offer people sustainable job opportunities."
The council's economic regeneration unit, sited next to Business Link and the Hyndburn Enterprise Trust at the centre, has been hailed as the main player in the success story.
Council leader George Slynn added: "The Globe Centre is a premier league location for business, commerce and training as well as first class catering.
"Working with partners we have attracted private investment of more than £4 million and grants exceeding £3 million.
"We look forward to welcoming further businesses to the centre when the later phases are completed at the turn of the year."
