WE refer to the letter of June 4 by the senior councillors for tourism. A recently formed Morecambe Tourism Co-operative with more than 16 local organisations and has been considering the future of the Bubbles complex. The co-operative is not satisfied that the thoughts emanating from some councillors and officers will benefit the tourism industry in Morecambe and the co-operatives ideas will be consolidated and forwarded very soon. In the meantime they wish that the Bubbles complex site is preserved as a tourism leisure facility with the following initial thoughts:
A need for an improved Bubbles complex with updated pools, changing rooms and catering facilities to cope with an all the year round use. A more stylish Dome with a theatre type attraction to hold an audience of 500-750 people.
The co-operative is not convinced that the Winter Gardens will be suitable and are convinced that the Platform and Salt Ayre centre will not provide suitable substitutes.
