A THOUSAND Cub Scouts from all over East Lancashire descended on Bowley Scout Camp in Great Harwood for an annual Cub Fun Day.
Janet Grime, Assistant County Commissioner of Cubs said: "Cub Fun Day is the highlight of Cub Scouting in East Lancashire when the youngsters can run around and discover lots of activities and challenges."
During the day the new sports centre, built at a cost of more than £60,000, was opened by East Lancashire's Scout President, Lord Waddington.
Bill Watson, the County Chairman and mastermind of the operation, said: "The sports centre will provide a great indoor facility for youngsters who visit Bowley and although the centre has not been fully fitted because of lack of funds, the county is optimistic in attracting sponsorship from local agencies and companies."
