HUNDREDS of people were evacuated from Preston's Squires nightspot on Monday, when a fire flared in the foyer.
Police say troubled started when a man allegedly returned to the club with a petrol can, after apparently being thrown out by bouncers.
The club was packed with customers on one of the busiest nights of the week.
Although the fire was soon put out, management decided to evacuate the club.
A police spokesman said: "The man was arrested before being taken to Royal Preston Hospital."
Darren Jack, who was inside the club, said the DJ told everyone to head towards the emergency exits.
He said: "People were celebrating because of the England game when suddenly they were told to leave."
The nightclub was re-opened the next day and the fire didn't cause any serious damage.
