CARTER bought a new car this week. Unfortunately, he had to take it back to the garage. Somewhat concerned, the salesman asked him what was wrong with the car. Geoff answered: "It's got a transvestite engine."
"Don't you mean 'transverse?" said the salesman.
"No, transvestite," says Geoff, "it keeps on slipping into the wrong gear!" If you've been listening to the show for the past few days, you'll remember that Carter was missing presumed dead on Monday last week.
He didn't turn into the show, but didn't realise he should phone to let us know where he was.
We were so worried about him that, while Stevie Saul and I bravely held down the fort, we sent our intrepid reporter Gary Flintoff to try and track him down by phoning Warrington Police Station.
Having exhausted various possibilities, Gary enquired if Carter had been locked up for the night.
The desk sergeant replied, "Do you mean the Geoff Carter that was on Blind Date?!"
Is there any part of the country where Carter's fame doesn't precede him? Listen out to next Tuesday's show, when we'll have 80s pop sensation Howard Jones live in the studio.
If you've got all Howard's old records on vinyl and you'd like to ask him a question, than call him live that morning in the studio on 900999. There were these three potatoes together in a pan.
Two were King Edwards and one was a Des Lynam.
But the King Edwards wouldn't talk to him because he was a common-tater. Once again, we've teamed up with our friends at Warner Village Cinemas in Preston.
