NICK Dougherty crowned a magnificent week by capturing the Lancashire Schools' Championship at Wilpshire Golf Club.
The Shaw Hill ace beat Nelson's John Cockroft in a card play off after both players fired one-over par rounds of 70.
It was his second major success inside seven days after he was part of the England team which won the World Junior Championships in Japan at the weekend.
The 16-year-old former QEGS pupil struggled on the outward nine in atrocious conditions, finding himself four-over-par after 12 holes.
But as the weather eased off birdies at the 13th, 16th and 18th holes pulled him back to one-over and a share of top spot with Cockroft, before a card play off settled the outcome.
"It was a great finish," said a delighted Dougherty.
"It completes a great week for me.
"It was nice to win it because it was the last schools' championship I will ever play in."
And Dougherty has now received official confirmation of his places in the England Boys team to face Italy at Radcliffe-on-Trent on July 1st and a spot in the European Boys' Team Championship at Gullane on July 8-10.
