A GROUP of 11 youngsters from Tyldesley SC featured in the Inter-Association Age Group Gala at Everton.
They swam for Central Lancashire against teams from Bolton, Manchester, Liverpool, Cumbria, North Lancashire and the North Midlands.
And at 13-Year Khalid Jhugroo produced some splendid performances.
He collected gold with PBs and NQTs in the 100 and 200 breaststroke events, silver in the 200 (PB) and 400 individual medley (NQTs), bronze in the 200 and 400 free (NQT) and fourth in the 100 backstroke and 100 freestyle (PB).
Stephanie Thompson's performance in the 13-Year 200 breaststroke showed continuing improvement over this distance as she yet again produced a PB to finish second.
Also at 13-Year were Kelly Banner, bronze at 200 backstroke (PB), fourth in the 200 individual medley and first reserve in the 100 backstroke; James Gendall, fifth in the 400 freestyle, fifth in the 200 butterfly, seventh in the 200 individual medley and first reserve in the 100 butterfly; and Jessica Howarth, eighth in the 100 butterfly.
The 11-Year girls also gave excellent accounts of themselves with Samantha Thompson picking up bronze in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 100 butterfly (PB), Sarah Wood fourth in the 100 butterfly (PB), seventh in the 200 individual medley (PB), eighth in the 100 backstroke (PB) and Michelle Greensmith, eighth in 200 freestyle.
Matthew Hampson was fourth in the 15-Year 200 butterfly (PB & NQT), sixth in the 200 freestyle and seventh in the 200 individual medley. Andrew Hurst hit PB in both the 400 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
Matthew Concannon rounded off the gala with a good swim in the 12-Year 100 breaststroke.
