A CONVENT which is a Grade Two listed building can be converted into two homes.
The Missionary Convent in Orchard Lane, Leigh was built in 1873 and was originally two separate dwellings.
Later the semis were united and the building used as a home for the elderly.
A development plan from The Trustees of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Apostles includes building four homes and garages in the grounds and demolishing an existing bungalow and pre-fabricated buildings.
The Ancient Monuments Society welcomes getting rid of the prefabs but has misgivings about the new buildings on both design and overdevelopment grounds.
Planners approved the application.
