AROUND 120 children from Bury had a day and "knight" to remember when they visited the popular Camelot theme park.

And their ticket to ride was provided courtesy of Bury's six Rotary clubs. The youngsters, some of them disabled, were accompanied by 80 helpers during their visit.

They were able to sample the thrills of the many rides and attractions of Camelot as well as taking part in a giant picnic in the arena where they were entertained by King Arthur's knights.

Six coaches were laid on to take the children direct from their Bury schools to the theme park.

Once arriving there, they met up with other school groups from Wigan and Blackburn.

The event, which proved hugely popular, was part of a special "Kids Out" day organised throughout the country by the Rotary movement with help from Littlewoods.

More than 20,000 youngsters nationwide took part, involving around 90 Rotary clubs.

The Bury trippers were made up largely of pupils from Millwood primary school, Bury, and Elms Bank High School, Whitefield, both special schools.

Joining them were boys and girls from Radcliffe High School, Castlebrook High School, Unsworth, Gorsefield (Radcliffe), Brandlesholme, and St Paul's (Bury) primary schools.

It proved to be a day out to remember for the children as they savoured all the delights Camelot had to offer.
