ANOTHER successful weekend for St Helens CC saw four teams win their respective matches.
Friday's Echo Cup match resulted in a relatively easy win for the first team when tight bowling by Banerjee (1-7), Jordan (3-15) in the early stages followed by Phil Roughley (2-7) and Gary Sheppard (3-21) when Birkenhead Park desperately tried to pull the score along restricted the home side to 57-9.
St Helens easily reached the score for the loss of four wickets with Darren Tyms continuing his good run with 28.
At the same time the under 18 team scored a win by one ball against Leigh after being set to score 123.
Excellent batting by Bass (28) Dennett (25) Booth (25) and Fishwick, who ended the game with a six saw them to a last-gasp victory. Windleshaw Road was not a place for the faint hearted on Saturday as the second team also won with a ball to spare.
Worsley scored 166 all out with R Kenny (1-34) McCabe (3-38) Davies (3-34) and Keenaghan (2-8) the wicket takers.
Keenaghan showed his worth as a genuine all rounder with 53 and together with Lawless (46) gave the side a good start and led to a nail-biting victory.
Not to be outdone, Brian Holmes led his second team to victory on Sunday against Widnes who were dismissed for 111.
Rigby (4-11) and Moss (2-19) did most of the damage. In reply Carlisle (29) Henderson (24) Bass (20 not out) and Cadel saw St Helens home for the loss of three wickets.
The first team entertain Sefton next Saturday.
