AN old lady who was duped into allowing a bogus caller into her home, later discovered that an expensive gold and diamond engagement ring was missing, along with £90 in cash.

The incident took place at about 11am on Thursday, June 11, when the man called at the 92-year-old victim's home in Rainhill, saying he was working in the area and needed to check the walls of the house.

He went round the house knocking on the walls and was there for about 15 minutes, sometimes unaccompanied, during which time the front door was open. As he left, he met up with another man and they walked off together.

The man who entered the house was white, aged 25 to 30 years, with a medium build and dark hair. Both men were wearing a white shirt and dark trousers.
