NORTH Pier entertainer Mike Doyle has a very strange habit to say the least.

Walking down the street with him, or chatting at a party, be prepared for him to spontaneously combust into a full-blown song.

One of his favourites is Nessun Dorma and he recently sang it for the crowds waiting to ride the Pleasure Beach's Playstation.

Mike said: "My wife gets absolutely sick of it, but I can't help it.

"If I'm at a party and it feels like it's dying a bit, I have to do something - so I burst into song.

"It usually does the trick.

"You could have been having a meal and the conversation goes flat so I'll just say: 'I don't know about you but I feel a song coming on'.

"People think I'm insane but it's just my little party piece." Mike's show is made up of two very different parts.

"In the first, he impersonates the likes of Tom Jones and Neil Sedaka.

The second half of the show takes a more serious tone as Mike pays tribute to Mario Lanza.

He continued: "I did the show at North Pier last year and it proved a bit of a success.

"It was a bit more comfortable opening the show here the second time and it's a great show for the weekend.

"You really have to see it to appreciate it.

"Blackpool is great because this type of show can work here and people are used to having a lot of them on during the season."

Mike is appearing at the North Pier every Friday and Saturday evening until July 11.
