A NEW £2.2 million out-patient department and special dermatology unit has been opened at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The two-floor building fronts onto Ashton Road and has been built on the site of the former children's ward.
The specially-designed building includes consulting and examination rooms and nurse-led clinics.
The new dermatology department has been transferred from its temporary home in Morecambe's Queen Street and includes 12 in-patient beds with a day room and back up facilities.
Chief Executive, Ian Cumming, said: "The Trust is absolutely delighted that this facility is now complete and open to the public. This is yet a further development that has been planned for many years and one which will now offer the type of service and accommodation of which the Morecambe Bay Hospitals are proud to provide."
