Morecambe 177-3 Darwen 107
MORECAMBE had an easy 70 runs victory over Darwen at Woodhill Lane, where Lancashire's Gary Yates was Darwen's deputy professional. He had a poor game taking 1 for 66 off 17 overs and scoring just one run.
Morecambe batting first scored 177 for 3, mainly due to opener Graham Fisher and professional Steven Pope. After Morecambe captain, Mark Woodhead was caught and bowled by Jeff Hacking without troubling the scorers, Fisher with 57 and Pope with 91 retrieved the situation. Pope's innings lasted 119 minutes and he hit 11 fours and one six, while Fisher's innings lasted 95 ,minutes and he hit 7 fours. Morecambe's bowlers were in fine form, none more so than opening paceman, Peter Stephens who took 5 for 42 off 15.3 overs.
Gulam Maje and Neil Jordan chipped in with 2 for 14, and 2 for 26 respectively.
This Saturday sees Morecambe travelling to play bottom club Preston where their winning run should continue, especially as Preston haven't won a game this season. Lancaster travel to Fox Lane to play a much-improved Leyland.
