CHORLEY have appointed Australian strike bowler Tim Menting as their professional for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old, recommended by former Chorley pro James Sutherland, replaces Jo Angel who has been forced to return to Australia because of family illness.
It is another very important weekend for Chorley as they seek to consolidate their title challenge with a third consecutive league victory tomorrow when bottom club Preston visit Windsor Park. Sunday's match is an even bigger one when Chorley entertain Blackpool in the regional final of the Abbot Ale Cup.
Unusually Blackpool will be able to field their professional with Englishman Marcus Sharp eligible to play in the national knockout cup. But the visitors will start as second favourites in view of Chorley's tremendous record against Blackpool over recent years. The winners will go forward to the last 16 and the national stages of the Abbot Ale Cup.
