A WIDOWER from Blackburn is to cycle 108 miles on the roads of Lancashire in memory of the wife he lost in May.
Harold True, 64, of Sunnybower, Whalley Old Road, Blackburn, will take to the road with fellow members of the North Lancashire Road Cycling Club on Sunday.
Mr True's wife, Pat, suffered from epilepsy and it was an epileptic attack which triggered a heart attack that killed her in May.
The cyclists have been sponsored by family and friends for their long haul and all proceeds will go to the British Epileptic Association.
More than £500 has alrady been raised for the charity as a result of donations made after Mrs True's funeral.
Pat lived all her life in Blackburn and worked for the Lancashire Evening Telegraph telephone sales department for more than 13 years.
She later spent eight years working as a lollipop lady near Roe Lee Park Primary School.
The cyclists will take to the saddle at 8.30am on Sunday at the Brownhill roundabout, Blackburn. They will then travel through Longridge and Garstang before turning north towards the Lancaster area. When they reach Silverdale, they will return to Blackburn via Carnforth and Glasson Dock.
Mr True said: "We felt it was appropriate to do something for the epileptic society and that is why we chose to ask people to make donations rather than buy flowers at the funeral.
"We were very pleased with the response and, hopefully, this cycle ride will take the amount we have raised over the £1,000 mark."
