A BURNLEY student has had surgery to remove an air gun pellet from his heart.
The 19-year-old football fan's mum said the operation at Blackpool Victoria Hospital had been a success and her son was recovering and was today "comfortable".
The teenager, who has not been named at the request of his family, was shot in the chest a week ago while walking in Yorkshire Street, Burnley, after watching the England versus Romania World Cup game at Sidewalk 53 in the town centre.
The pellet lodged in his chest then moved into his heart.
His mum said: "They managed to get the pellet out and there's no other damage. It's just a matter of recovery now."
Anyone with any information about the attack is asked to contact Burnley CID on 01282 425001.
