A BLAZING row over North West Water broke out at Westminster when it was revealed that the privatised company's bosses had awarded themselves another massive pay rise. Shadow Environment Secretary and Blackburn MP Jack Straw was set to write to Prime Minister John Major calling for emergency legislation to block what he called "obscene and immoral" salary increases. Company accounts showed that retired chairman Dennis Grove, got a 43 per cent rise in his basic pay to £183,000.
