NEXT year, sees the centenary of the outbreak of the Boer War, in which troops of the British Empire fought the Boers of South Africa.
This was the war where we first reckoned 'our boys will be home for Christmas.' It turned out rather differently: a three-year conflict with huge casualties, military and civilian, and ending in the surrender of the Boers.
To mark the centenary, Channel Four is producing a major documentary series on the Boer War.
We want to hear from anyone who can remember this war. Do you have childhood memories or anecdotes about the war? Did a relative tell you about his - or her - experiences in South Africa?
If you can help, we would be very keen to hear. Please contact me or Simon Rockell on 0171 284 2020.
