GLAZEBURY U11s enjoyed their moment in the big time.
The highly-rated side were at Old Trafford, giving a display of fielding and cricket skills before a packed crowd for the Lancashire-Surrey floodlit match.
They also joined others from schools and cricket clubs from Lancashire and Cheshire to form a guard of honour when the teams filed onto the field.
Glazebury's side, which was formed as a result of a link with the village primary school, is playing its first season in the Wigan & District Junior League.
Team manager Peter Calvert, said: "The club is hoping to form links with other schools to form an U13 team next year."
Peter Ackerley, cricket development officer for West Lancashire and Merseyside, said: "It is all part of a campaign to widen the appeal of cricket and get more youngsters involved in the game."
