ALAN WHALLEY'S WORLD
GALA organisers have found themselves in a royal pickle. For although they've elected a queen, they haven't a suitable crown for her forthcoming coronation.
So now, Joan Pennington, a driving force behind the revived Moss Bank Queen event, is appealing for help.
The event was revived at last year's village green gala after a lapse of about 60 years and a bridal-type tiara had to be used for the crowning ceremony. But for this year's event the organisers hope to find a more impressive headpiece.
If anyone can donate or loan a suitable crown, then Joan would welcome a call on St Helens 601823.
