SUN, sea, sand and sets comes to Wigan Pier next week to celebrate the once popular wakes week. There will be a man-made sea shore and picture post card views at the week long festival of music, dance and entertainment.
The weekend of Saturday and Sunday, July 11 and 12, will be particularly special with the Pantry at the Pier housing a beach and seaside artist, Richard Hughes, who will recreate large scale cartoon postcards of Victorian holidaymakers in resort settings.
The beach will be open from 11am to 5pm and all events are free to day visitor pass holders.
