I WAS so sorry to read of the girl who died in a head-on collision in Yorkshire last week, (Citizen page 1, June 18).
It's a tragedy and my heart goes out to her family, they must be devastated.
But sadly, I wasn't at all surprised. That road, the Skipton bypass is a death trap.
I have been using it for several years and even before it was widened I was unfortunate enough to witness an accident involving a group cyclists and an over-enthusiastic driver. Luckily no one was hurt on that occasion.
Since it was 'improved' recently, this has just served to increase the speed of the traffic and in my view make it even more dangerous.
The road is well used, being the obvious link between here and Yorkshire, but many of those who travel on it are tourists and are not aware of the dangers.
Don't let Samina's death be in vain, take heed and to all those drivers out there - slow down.
