THE River Darwen ran red after an accident where dye was spilled into the water.
The accident happened at Sandersons Mill, Lower Darwen, where a 100kg container of dye was spilled into a drain leading into the river.
The incident was being investigated but the dye was non-toxic and was unlikely to cause environmental damage.
