I WRITE regarding The Journal story headlined 'Busway isn't second best'. No it isn't, it's the worst option I can imagine.
I attended the Leigh public meeting - a 'consultation'. The Derby Room was packed, standing room only. The public gave a unanimous and sympathetic 'no' to the proposals. The response from the platform seemed to be 'tough luck'.
Why won't they listen to us? Will Mr Tyson remain confident that "the vast majority think it's a good idea"?
What's wrong with putting some bus lanes up to the stations at Atherton and Walkden? Adding another station nearer Tyldesley? Putting more coaches on the train?
These people who are concerned with getting traffic off the roads are not interested in this easy option. One asks oneself "why"?
