THERE were mixed fortunes for Saints' high-flying Alliance side last week.
First they won 40-22 when visiting Huddersfield Giants, with their tries coming from Hall (3), Camman, Stewart, Stankevitch, Newall and Johnson, while Capewell (3) and S. Barrow kicked goals.
However, Saints' chances of championship glory suffered a blow when they lost 29-22 at Salford when their tries were scored by Cross (2), Mathison and Capewell, who also landed three goals.
Saints must now win at Wigan tonight (Thursday) to stay in title contention.
Meanwhile, the Academy squad were defeated 15-12 by Salford at Knowsley Road on Sunday. Their try was scored by Mike Haslam and Kelvin Peet kicked three goals. Tim Jonkers and Dave Cunliffe shared the Wish FM man-of-the-match award.
Team: Giles; Taylor, Butler, Cunliffe, Proudfoot; Peet, Haslam; Ireland, Briggs, Burgess, Holdstock, Jonkers, Braddish. Substitutes: Davies, Hill, Loughlin, Stankevitch.
