MEDIEVAL knights, classic cars, a huge birthday cake, firemen and rose queens descended on Lytham for the annual Club Day parade.
And after torrential rain, the heavens decided to close just five minutes before the procession was due to start, ensuring the day went as planned.
Len Whiteside, Club Day secretary, said: "We were incredibly lucky with the weather. There were a few downpours beforehand and nothing else.
"The parade went very well and there was a good response from people.
"The procession may have been a little bit shorter than previous years, but it was a very busy day in the town.
"There were nine classes of float and we're happy to say there were no major snags at all during the day."
Rose Queen elect Megan Porter was the centre of the parade in a horse-drawn carriage, followed by her attendants and other rose queens from all over the county.
Along with the procession, visitors were given a rare opportunity to see inside Lytham Hall and its grounds.
Many people chose to experience all the fun of the fair on the Park View Road playing fields and the carnival atmosphere continued into the late hours with the Bosco steel band at Hastings Place.
And Lytham police were happy to report that they had a quiet day after numerous alcohol-related arrests last year.
