PICTURED: JONATHAN Lamkin, Merseytravel's Community Links officer, is pictured with pupils at Rainford CE County Primary School expressing their views in paint on a healthier environment.
CHILDREN from Rainford C of E School took part in an environment awareness day as part of Merseytravel's Green Transport Month.
The youngsters from the Cross Pit Lane school spent a day with Merseytravel's Community Links Education Officer, Jonathan Lamkin, who visited the school as part of his Green Transport Tour 1998. And they used the opportunity to draw, paint and write about the environment.
Jonathan said: "Green Transport Month is all about encouraging people to take up a healthy diet of transport options to protect their health and environment.
Traffic congestion and pollution are making our streets no-go areas for our kids.
They are creating a new plague of asthma and respiratory sickness."
Green Transport Month is supported by a number of organisations, including Groundwork St Helens and St Helens Council.
