COUNCILLORS have approved a £976,000 cash injection for school repairs in Blackburn and Darwen.
The money represents the council's first schools maintenance budget since it was awarded unitary status in April.
And the cash will be added to £810,000 which the Government awarded schools in the borough earlier this year.
Council chiefs say they are unaware of whether the money budgeted will be enough or too much as it is their first budget and there are no precedents.
And they say they have not been helped by a lack of information from Lancashire County Council, who used to control the education purse strings.
