ABRAHAM Lincoln, the Statue of Liberty and Davey Crockett turned out to celebrate Independence Day at Bacup's Sharneyford Primary.
Each year the school has a different theme for its summer fair; it has been the Olympics, last year was insects and this time the American flag flew high over the village.
A fancy dress parade was held in the school grounds. Over 11 winner was former pupil Lily Cooper dressed as the Statue of Liberty; a similar guise won Rachel Johnson the seven to 11 age group and Davey Crockett alias Oliver Banham won the under sevens.
American games were introduced so netball became basketball and football soccer. In the yard children could be photographed with an American jeep and had to guess the month and year of its manufacture.
More unusual games inside included guess the country of origin of bank notes - and the new Scottish Clydesdale note had them all fooled!
There was also a line dancing demonstration organised by governor and parent Lucy Cooper.
Headteacher Roger Creegan said: "The money raised will go into the parent, teacher association funds for trips and extra school equipment."
