ACE sprinter Rebecca White of Blackburn Harriers won the 100 metres title in the AAA National Junior Championships at Bedford.
Her time of 11.45 seconds is four tenths of a second faster than she has ever run before.
On the second day of the championships she suffered one of her rare defeats at her favourite distance, the 200 metres.
However she lost by less than half a second to Sarah Wilhemly of Southend, who is the fastest woman in the country this year - and that include senior athletes as well as juniors.
Rebecca's time of 23.82 seconds is easily another personal best and the first time she has beaten 24 seconds.
There was a pleasant surprise for her after the event when she was presented with a cheque for £150 from the Dame Maria Hartmann Memorial Fund.
Rebecca's next major target is the All-England Schools Championships at Exeter this weekend.
