SETTING up a shop specialising in vinyl records may not be the most obvious business ideas in the age of the compact disc.
But Janice Percy and Alison Sharples believe they have captured a niche.
They have launched Pride Records in Rawtenstall specialising in rare and collectible records and music memorabilia.
"Most record shops now don't even sell vinyl records but we've found there are an awful lot of people who still love it," explained Janice, who recently sold her previous business of a chain of entertainment agencies to launch the new venture.
"We've even had people who have come in and left vowing to buy themselves a record player!"
The business partners plan to roll out the Pride Records idea to other parts of the country once the Rawtenstall shop has become established.
