MORE than 30 pupils from St Bede's RC High School are involved in a summer school to improve their literacy.
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Asda, Morrisons and McDonalds are sponsoring the project which is also taking place at eight other schools in Blackburn and Darwen.
The high schools are Darwen Vale, Beardwood, Pleckgate, Witton Park and Darwen Moorland.
A partnership has been set up between Crosshill Special School, Queen's Park High and Our Lady and St John's RC. Numeracy schools are also being run at Pleckgate High School and Our Lady and St John RC.
The project is being funded by the Government following a successful bid from Blackburn with Darwen Council to fund the scheme. A total of £110,000 was won with £90,000 being spent on literary schools and £20,000 on numeracy schools.
