HAULAGE experts say dangerous cases of wheels coming off moving trucks could be prevented for "peanuts".

A damning Government report shows there could be as many as 2,000 lorry wheel loss incidents each year.

One industry expert slammed the report saying it failed to address the issue of why wheels actually fall off trucks.

He said:"It is quite simple. Larger wheel studs (24mm instead of 22mm) and thicker wheel naves would solve the problem and cost peanuts.

"But manufacturers are saying nothing because they could be in the firing line."
