SO it looks like the Theatre Royal is about to make its final curtain call.
The sooner this happens the better. It should have been pulled down years ago and replaced by a cinema complex.
People no longer want to watch Victorian-style panto, or amateur dramatics. The last time I went was with Merton Bank School when I was eight - what an ordeal.
If they can't get decent acts it should close and stop pestering the people of the town for cash.
