AFTER topping the tables for its teaching skills and student good looks, Lancaster University has once again taken pole position in a nationwide survey.

More than 6,000 students from universities around the country were asked about safety and, although many had horror stories about stabbings, beatings and racial attacks, students rated Lancaster the safest.

Head of security, Tony Evans, said: "We are very proud of our site and the steps we take to ensure safety on campus."

Another report brought good news for Bailrigg revealing that 84 per cent of Lancaster graduates are in full time work or further study.
