MORECAMBE and Lunesdale MP Geraldine Smith is in Brussels this week pressing the case for the completion of the Heysham Port M6 motorway link. She will be asking representatives of the European Commission to consider incorporating the road into the Trans European Motorway Network at a meeting on Monday, July 27.
The MP commented: "The key role that Heysham Port plays in the trading relationship between the whole of Ireland and the UK mainland and Europe makes the completion of the link strategically important in the context of European transport policy." The meeting is the latest in a series of initiatives undertaken by the MP to secure funding for the road.
