THE £4million renovation of Blackburn railway station promised by Railtrack is a big boost for the town.
But, surely, it could be an even bigger boost if the much-needed facelift makes the most of the station's assets.
For just as the refurbishment of its frontage has emphasised, this is a splendid Victorian building with lots of character.
And the same goes for the interior currently blighted by years of unwelcoming dirt and neglect.
With the right touch and a sensitive approach, the whole station could not only be restored to its original glory, it could also be come an attraction in itself that would boost rail travel and bring in visitors and business to Blackburn.
That should be the goal.
