EAST Lancashire pair Anne Driver and Gail Atherton kept Lancashire women in with a chance of the Inter-County Championship tennis title at Eastbourne with a crucial win over Warwickshire.
Clitheroe's Driver won all three rubbers and Blackburn's Gail Atherton won two out of three in the 6-3 victory, following their stirring comeback against Essex the previous day in group one.
Darwen's Mark Schofield was unable to overcome Hampshire and Isle of Wight hero Chris Wilkinson with partner Laurence Matthews, but managed to win one rubber in the 6-3 defeat.
Schofield and Edmundson won two out of three rubbers on Tuesday as Lancashire scraped through against Berkshire, although Blackburn's Eric Knowles was defeated in his only doubles rubber of the tie.
