A ROBBER threatened staff at West End Stores on Yorkshire Street, Morecambe with a pair of scissors this week.

The man had waited inside the shop until there was only the shopkeeper and a customer in and then locked the door from inside. Then he pulled the scissors out of his pocket and demanded money from the till. The shopkeeper refused to hand the money over so he made off with £70 worth of cigarettes, spirits and beer which he placed in a blue Netto carrier bag.

He was in his early 30s, had short, dark curly hair, oval face, 5ft 10ins, wearing fawn coloured sweatshirt top. He spoke with a strong Irish accent and told the shopkeeper he was called Flaherty or O'Flaherty. Police believe he was under the influence of drink or drugs.
