A BLACKPOOL school is set to become the top of its league with the opening of a specialist wing.
The £120,000 extension at Woodlands school was opened by Blackpool's education chairman Councillor Eddie Collett.
Mr Collett is extremely supportive of the school and explained that Woodlands exemplary education work already led to government commendations.
He said: "In last year's annual report by the chief inspector of schools Chris Woodhead, Woodlands was the only special school praised for high standards."
The school has nearly 80 children and young adults aged between 2 and 19 years who have severe, profound or multiple learning difficulties.
These pupils watched a performance of Lazy bones, a sensory production by the school's further education unit, to mark the opening of the new wing.
