A SOON-TO-BE-WED Lancaster man's face was left in a mess after he came to the aid of a woman being beaten up only to be attacked himself and see the female walk off with the thug. The 30-year-old man saw the woman being beaten up outside his house on County Street at about half past midnight on Sunday morning.

He rushed out from his living room to stop the battering but the attacker turned on him and punched and kicked him to the ground. Both the thug and the girl then walked off together. The good samaritan was taken to the RLI with a fractured cheek bone, black eye, cut to his head and bruising. His wedding is planned in four weeks.

The thug was of mediterranean appearance, 6ft to 6ft 2ins tall, wearing a dark jacket and had a local accent. The female had blonde curly hair. Anyone with any information should call police on 63333.
