BEAUTIES from Lancaster have become shy about showing off their feminine wiles - because of the modern creed of political correctness.
The first ever 'Miss Lancaster' competition attracted just five girls before deadline for entries this week, even though there's three prizes to be won!
That's because the young women of the area mistook the competition as an old fashioned bathing beauty contest according to organiser Geoffrey Fisher of the Lancaster and District Tourist Association.
He said: "I think political correctness did affect it. It was very awkward to advertise. I think people had the old image of the Morecambe beauty contest but this isn't like that. It's more of an intellectual competition.
"We want people to see the younger side of Lancaster not just old fuddy duddy councillors. Youth in a beautiful old city. I'm sure that next year when people see what we're trying to do there will be more entries."
