LANCASHIRE Lynx have sensationally been given the boot from Deepdale for this Sunday's promotion clash against Oldham.

The Division Two game was scheduled to take place at 3pm this Sunday with the winners to take over the top spot in the league.

However, the game has now been moved to Preston Grasshoppers' Lightfoot Lane Ground because Preston North End have arranged to play Celtic in a friendly.

Lynx manager Kevin Tamati said: "It's disappointing for us because the game would have attracted the best crowd of the season."

Now the Lynx face a trip across Preston on the same day because Oldham have refused to have the game re-scheduled.

Chief Executive Peter Church said: "We offered Oldham every different alternative but they were very awkward so we have organised to play them again at the Hoppers ground."

It will be the second time the teams have met at Lightfoot Lane. Earlier this season Oldham drew 18-18 with Lynx while the Deepdale pitch was being dug-up.

This is a blow to Lynx as they continue to try and bring in more fans from the Preston area.

Kevin Tamati said: "It's going to be difficult because with both games being played at the same time the fans will flock to Deepdale."

Meanwhile PNE's match against Celtic will be priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. The new season ticket holders, over 4,150, have been given a special rate of £7 and £3.
