IN the past two months the Deepdale Duck has visited more people than the mayor, signed more autographs than the PNE players and performed for more kids than the Spice Girls.

But the Duck is heading home to roost after completing a tiring two-month roadshow at Brookfield Primary School last week.

He has visited 75 primary schools and entertained more than 15,000 children.

The purpose of the tour was to inform the kids about "Deepdale Ducklings", the popular junior supporters clubs at Preston North End.

The Ducklings, aged two to six, and the Young North Enders, aged six to 12, are proving a real draw for Deepdale's young fans.

Community events manager Ross McWilliam said: "All the children seemed to enjoy the roadshow, however one or two teachers did get a good soaking from the Duck!"

In total more than £3,000 worth of merchandise was given to the schools from as far afield as Lancaster and Fleetwood.

For more information on the young supporters clubs call Ross on 902030 or meet him at the open day on Saturday.
